Opening for the Town of Burlington Municipal Judge Position Due to Permanent Vacancy: The Town of Burlington is seeking qualified candidates to serve as Municipal Judge following a permanent vacancy in the office. Roles and Responsibilities of the Municipal Judge
The Municipal Judge is responsible for adjudicating cases involving criminal, traffic, and non-traffic ordinance violations within the Town of Burlington. These violations may include offenses such as traffic infractions, misdemeanors, and other violations of local municipal ordinances. As the presiding officer of the Municipal Court, the judge ensures fairness and impartiality during hearings, applies relevant local laws, and administers appropriate penalties or fines in accordance with the ordinance.
In addition to hearing cases, the Municipal Judge:
Oversees all judicial activities within the Municipal Court, ensuring adherence to legal procedures and proper documentation of cases.
Issues rulings, orders, and judgments in accordance with state law and municipal regulations.
Maintains the efficiency and integrity of the court, handling case management and scheduling in an organized manner.
Provides oversight of any judicial staff or court personnel to ensure a smooth court process.
