Opening for the Town of Burlington Municipal Judge Position Due to Permanent Vacancy: The Town of Burlington is seeking qualified candidates to serve as Municipal Judge following a permanent vacancy in the office. The position will be temporarily filled by appointment by the town board until it is permanently filled through a special election. This special election will be held concurrently with the spring election in 2026. Roles and Responsibilities of the Municipal Judge The Municipal Judge is responsible for adjudicating cases involving criminal, traffic, and non-traffic ordinance violations within the Town of Burlington. These violations may include offenses such as traffic infractions, misdemeanors, and other violations of local municipal ordinances. As the presiding officer of the Municipal Court, the judge ensures fairness and impartiality during hearings, applies relevant local laws, and administers appropriate penalties or fines in accordance with the ordinance. In addition to hearing cases, the Municipal Judge: Oversees all judicial activities within the Municipal Court, ensuring adherence to legal procedures and proper documentation of cases.
