Opening for the Town of Burlington Municipal Judge Position Due to Permanent Vacancy: The Town of Burlington is seeking qualified candidates to serve as Municipal Judge following a permanent vacancy in the office. The position will be temporarily filled by appointment by the town board until it is permanently filled through a special election. This special election will be held concurrently with the spring election in 2026. Roles and Responsibilities of the Municipal Judge The Municipal Judge is responsible for adjudicating cases involving criminal, traffic, and non-traffic ordinance violations within the Town of Burlington. These violations may include offenses such as traffic infractions, misdemeanors, and other violations of local municipal ordinances. As the presiding officer of the Municipal Court, the judge ensures fairness and impartiality during hearings, applies relevant local laws, and administers appropriate penalties or fines in accordance with the ordinance. In addition to hearing cases, the Municipal Judge: Oversees all judicial activities within the Municipal Court, ensuring adherence to legal procedures and proper documentation of cases. Issues rulings, orders, and judgments in accordance with state law and municipal regulations. Maintains the efficiency and integrity of the court, handling case management and scheduling in an organized manner. Provides oversight of any judicial staff or court personnel to ensure a smooth court process. TOWN HALL CLOSED TO GENERAL PUBLIC

Town Hall will be closed to the general public starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020. We urge residents to conduct business on-line, by mail or the drop box in front of Town Hall. Town Hall staff will be available by phone and email during regular operating hours. Because some town business cannot be conducted online, you may schedule an appointment when necessary. Please call Town Hall for further questions.

Town Hall will be open for early voting from March 23, 2020 to April 3, 2020 (10AM – 2PM).  The building will only be open for the sole purpose of early voting.  All other Town business will need to be handled online or over the phone.  We STRONGLY encourage all voters who are looking to vote absentee request a ballot online at:

https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/ 

Once we receive your online request, a ballot will be mailed to you. You then return the ballot by mail or to our drop box by the Town Hall entry door.
